Manhattan Project National Historical Park B Reactor Tours Tour Information Registration Find Tour Confirmation Tour Restrictions Contact Us The B Reactor National Historic Landmark Updates for the 2020 season will be posted when available. Out of an abundance of caution, the Manhattan Project National Historical Park Visitor Center is closed to the public until further notice. Registration for public tours of Hanford’s Manhattan Project National Historical Park facilities has also been postponed. Thank you for your understanding and support. The B Reactor National Historic Landmark is the world’s first full-scale plutonium production reactor and part of the Manhattan Project National Historical Park. Sign up for a tour and learn more about the people, events, science, and engineering that led to the creation of the atomic bombs that helped bring an end to World War II. 2020 Tour Season The U.S. Department of Energy offers free public tours of the B Reactor. Tour season is generally from spring to fall, with varying dates and times. The list of tour dates for 2020 will be posted by early March. Tour Details Free of charge Open to all ages Open to visitors from around the world Cameras, cell phones, and other recording devices are allowed Food and drinks (non-alcoholic) are allowed on the bus; bottled water only inside B Reactor There is no food or drink for sale at the visitor center There are restrooms at the B Reactor Tours begin and end at the visitor center located at 2000 Logston Blvd. Richland WA. Total time commitment is 4 hours Tour experience begins promptly with an introduction at the visitor center Bus ride to B Reactor is about 45 minutes with interpretation along the way The B Reactor tour lasts 2 hours Group/School Tours School and group tours may be available with a minimum of 20 participants. Please submit requests to BReactor@rl.gov and include the following information: Group/School Name Transportation (own or have access to bus, or capability of procuring charter bus) Number of participants (students + teachers/chaperones) Requested tour date/time (please include alternate dates for flexibility) Purpose of the tour (e.g., current course of study for students, community organization, reunion, etc.) Is there a special focus for tour participants (e.g. technical or scientific interest)? Staff will evaluate your request to determine feasibility and will contact you within one 1-2 business days. We may also be able to help you reserve seats for your large group as part of a scheduled public tour. If you have any questions, please call the visitor center, at (509) 376-1647.
